FIA Formula 2 Championship logo
The FIA Formula 2 Championship, otherwise known as Formula Two or simply F2, is an FIA accredited racing series, focused at developing young drivers.[1] Originally founded as the GP2 Series in 2005 to prepare young drivers for Formula One, Formula Two sees twenty or more drivers battle for victory in identical cars constructed by Dallara.[2]

Links to Formula E

F2 and Formula E are fairly well linked despite the former's deep-rooted connections to Formula One and traditional motorsport series. Indeed, the majority of drivers to have raced in FE have competed in F2/GP2 Series in their development years, although only two F2/GP2 Champions have driven in FE.[3] Furthermore, three time FE Champions e.Dams are a sister team of multiple GP2/F2 Champions DAMS, while the two series also share a mutual chassis manufacturer in the form of Dallara.[4]

Teams and Personnel

The most successful FE team in the series short history, e.Dams, are a branch of the DAMS racing squad, which has three GP2/F2 Teams' Championships to its name. Furthermore, a large number of former GP2/F2 staff have worked in FE, while a number of current and former GP2/F2 drivers such as Antonio Fuoco have tested an FE car.

Manufacturers

Spark Racing Technologies' chassis and design partner Dallara are well known as the sole chassis supplier for the GP2/F2 Championship, with both series using the new Halo cockpit protection device as of 2018/19.
