Carlos Eduardo Santos Galvão Bueno Filho (born 24 January 1976 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), is a Brazilian racing driver who made his FIA Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy debut with Jaguar Brazil during the inaugural 2018/19.[1] Better known simply as Cacá Bueno, Bueno is most famous for his triumphs in the Stock Car Brasil Championship, having won the title outright five times.[2]
Background[]
Bueno's racing career began in 1988, with the future Brazilian ace sweeping to the São Paulo states karting championship in 1992.[2] Bueno eventually progressed to racing cars in 1995, competing in the Copa Petrobrás de Fórmula Uno until 1996, before moving to the Copa Palio in 1997.[2] The Brazilian racer would also get his first taste of stock car racing in 1996, a series that would subsequently become Bueno's biggest success.[2]
Stocks and Silhouettes[]
1997 saw Bueno claim the Stock Car Light Championship, before moving to the South American Super Touring series in 1998.[2] Two campaigns in that, which saw Bueno claim the 1999 crown, saw the Brazilian move to the TC2000 series in 2000.[2] That was followed by a move into the Stock Car Brasil Championship in 2002, a series in which Bueno was to become a serial winner.[2]
Bueno's first Stock Car Brasil crown came in 2006, with the Brazilian ace duly defending it in 2007.[2] His third crown would come in 2009, with Bueno also become a Red Bull athlete during that season as he raced for their Stock Car team.[3] Two further titles were secured by Bueno in 2011 and 2012, with the Brazilian also making a few appearances in the WTCC and Blancpain Sprint Series.[2]
Bueno continued to race in the Brazilian Stock Car Championship through to 2019.[2]
Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy History[]
Bueno would first become involved in the FIA Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy ahead of the inaugural 2018/19 season, signing a deal with Jaguar Brazil.[1] Bueno would be partnered with Sérgio Jimenez for the full season, entering the PRO class alongside his compatriot.[1] The pair duly fought for the podium at the season opening race in Ad Diriyah, with Bueno ultimately missing out as he ended the day in fourth.[4]
