The Venturi Formula E Team is a Formula-e team, currently competing in the FIA Formula-e Championship in its inaugural 2014/15 season.[1]

Current Season

Venturi are based in Monaco, founded by Leonardo DiCaprio and Venturi Automobiles, with Nick Heidfeld and Stéphane Sarrazin named as drivers.[1] Heidfeld had the chance to win the 2014 Beijing ePrix, before contact with Nicolas Prost into the final corner ended both of their races.[2] Heidfeld's pace was clear throughout the season, although he was often denied significant points through a combination of poor qualifying positions and late race penalties. or Sarrazin, it was a quiet start to the year.

Background

The Venturi Formula-e Team was founded in Monaco by DiCaprio, Gildo Pallanca Pastor, Francesco Costa, Bert Hedaya, with the aim of bringing Venturi Automobiles' experience in building the current record holder in the Bonneville Salt Flats for an electric car.[1] Venturi intend to become a manufacturer in the championship from the second season onwards.[1]

Formula-e History

Venturi are the only Monaco based team in the championship, with Nick Heidfeld and Stephane Sarrazin as their drivers.[1] The team ran four Spark-Renault SRT-01Es for their drivers, before introducing their own car from 2015 as one of the FIA's eight identified Constructors.[1] Heidfeld had a strong start to the season, just missing out on victory after a crash with Nicolas Prost at the final corner of the ePrix, with Sarrazin claiming points in ninth.[2] Heidfeld was strong in the races but often fell short due to penalties and/or qualifying mishaps, while Sarrazin had a quiet start to the season.
